I am more than just excited! I want to cry tears of joy, scream, give everyone a huge hug! I have dreamed this very thing about two years ago and now I am doing it!
Let me start from the very beginning. October 2016, my husband and I decided it was time to make this bakery dream happen. We collected all of our paperwork, found a small commercial kitchen at a local church here in Lancaster County and began baking. The following year we expanded into wholesaling and moved our location to a local cafe. I created many new recipes, friendships and found my strengths in the kitchen as a baker. September 2018, I felt it was time to move on to finding a new space again. So, I began my search for the next step and I found Lancaster Marketplace advertised on Facebook. I collected all the details, talked it over with my husband and we decided to give it a try.
In November 2018, we joined Lancaster Marketplace and created a small stand where Tanya's Pastries would sell our goods and European pastries. The first few days of opening were so inspiring! My family and friends all came to support my dream and cheer me on. Slowly, we began seeing regular customers and having days where we would sell out of pastries.
Time to Expand our Bakery
And guess what came to mind next? Yup, time to expand again! Our first thought was finding a space in Lancaster city. We started searching and even looked at a few spaces. Every time I looked at a space, I would get so stressed out and my heart would race. It felt like this would be the worst next decision, even though that is what I truly wanted at the time. One evening my husband and I were talking about the bakery and we just casually mentioned moving our stand to a bigger space at Lancaster Marketplace and building a little mini bakery right at the market...
Here we are now from that casual conversation that one evening! We are almost done building our new stand and bakery space at Lancaster Marketplace and working on expanding into a light breakfast and lunch menu. It's a dream that has been growing in baby steps (#daverasmsey) and is developing into this beautiful story that I am so excited to share with you.
What to Expect at Tanya's Pastries in Lancaster Marketplace
During the month of May, you will see our menu improve, change and grow. Our goal is to bring the best of Eastern European foods made by Eastern European families to Lancaster!
